I have heard other female consultants say that they wear a fake engagement ring or wedding band to ward off unwanted attention, so I have decided to conduct a little experiment. I purchased a plain silver band for $10 that I will wear when I'm on the road to see if it does in fact act as a deterrent. In a few weeks we should know if I wasted my money, or if I purchased $10 worth of "back the crap off."

Good idea, and it'll be an interesting experiment.
I wore a ring while I was traveling Europe for the same reason. It just made things easier - people take a ring and the implied fiance more seriously than a boyfriend who isn't present.

I think the reason many guys take the ring more seriously is because a lot of girls have a new boyfriend every 3 weeks!!
A girl once told me that unless the relationship is at least 3 months, it doesn't really count. I disagree, but it's an interesting perspective nonetheless!
